Funny Art: Election Pundit

These maps show the amount of attention given ...
Image via Wikipedia

From Denny:  The presidential election has been thrust upon us whether we want it or not.  The media is busy talking up even the worst of candidates they know will not survive the primaries.  Why?  The networks and media moguls want those advertising dollars from said desperate candidates.

Then there are the either boring or disingenuous political talk shows slanted to produce yet more advertising dollars.  It's all a game - while the average American, voter or not, gets the shaft.

This drawing of mine is a classic as it was drawn back in 1998 when I tried to warn people not to vote for George Bush 43.  Guess you know how well that worked out.  :)

Dennys: News Politics Comedy Science Arts & Food: Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 17 Nov 2011

Cover of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart...

Dennys: News Politics Comedy Science Arts & Food: Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 17 Nov 2011: From Denny: Check out blog posts on photography, arts, food, news, politics, a huge amount of humor - especially the political pundits, poetry, astronomy, quotes, music, spiritual and just about anything else that catches my eclectic interest. Can you tell that 140 characters just doesn't work for me? :)

The last posts roundup I did was back in June and we sure are overdue like a long pregnancy. Be sure to bookmark this post as you will enjoy endless hours of laughing while you absorb some good information.

Most of the blog posts are at my flagship blog that spun off into the other 20, The Social Poets, where the news crashes into humor. I even manage to write a few in-depth news posts, slicing and dicing the BS that passes for truth these days on the airwaves.

And to think I do all this in my spare time... Hope you enjoy!

Dennys Funny Quotes: 37 Funny 2012 Election GOP Photos

Dennys Funny Quotes: 37 Funny 2012 Election GOP Photos: From Denny: What ever did we do before photoshop came along to skewer our presidential candidates? Life is never so much fun as it is now. The political artists among us had a wild time expressing their opinions about the GOP candidates this year.

And every one of these photos is based upon facts about the candidates. Which is more outrageous - the photos or the candidates? You decide. After all, it's Tuesday and we all need a good laugh to get us ready for the work week Hump Day of Wednesday, right?

The Social Poets: News Links: Occupy Wall Street Protests 1 - 12 Oct 2011

The Social Poets: News Links: Occupy Wall Street Protests 1 - 12 Oct 2011: From Denny: Occupy Wall Street is finally getting the attention of mainstream media. Europe, the Middle East and Asia are as fascinated with the protest movement as are Americans. Wall Street and other Big Business concerns like Fox News have tried to trivialize the anger of America's majority but to no avail.

The protests are growing exponentially as more people from all different walks of life and age groups are lifting up their voices in protest against America's "bought government" and demanding reform from our highest politicians.

Check out how the media's awareness of the movement has evolved from first "why take them seriously" to "OMG! This is the real deal!" The protest first erupted in New York City in September. At the time the organizers planned to march for three weeks. Now that the movement has morphed and evolved, developing a life of its own, organizers threw that plan out of the window, planning to march indefinitely.

The Social Poets: New American Revolution: Protests Rampant Against Wall Street Nationwide

The Social Poets: New American Revolution: Protests Rampant Against Wall Street Nationwide: Check out this from the 99 Percent site: "We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent."

The Social Poets: Funny Late Nite Jokes: Casey Anthony Trial, News Corp Scandal, Debt Ceiling

Comic Jon Stewart calls Fox News on their many lies

The Social Poets: Funny Late Nite Jokes: Casey Anthony Trial, News Corp Scandal, Debt Ceiling: "From Denny: This past week comics had plenty to lampoon. William and Kate, the celebrated British royals came for a visit to California while on the continent. There was an outburst of royal fever while they collected funds for their favorite charities. Recently married this was their first excursion as a duo and they were warmly received everywhere they visited.

Casey Anthony Trial Verdict

On the darker side: the Casey Anthony trial, where a young single mother was accused of killing her two-year-old daughter. Jurors acquitted her, delivering a surprise verdict. The whole country erupted in indignation because everyone assumed her guilty."

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Jon Stewart On Happy Gays, NYC Gay Pride Parade

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Jon Stewart On Happy Gays, NYC Gay Pride Parade: "From Denny: It's been the talk of the news stations all over America this week. New York legalized marriage for same sex couples. It is a major civil rights victory. Though, I predict, that once they get accustomed to having the right to marry they will do just like everyone else: get divorced.

But, as Jon Stewart tells it, 'it set gay and lesbian couples free from having to set foot in Connecticut' (to get married).

Of course, to hear conservatives tell it, this is now the end of society as we know it. Does this sound as silly to you as it does me? Why would someone else getting married affect whether I choose to get married or stay married?

Meanwhile, the real reason for giving a group of folks their civil rights surfaced. New York state will realize $184 million in revenue over the next three years.

Of course, what will really be interesting to watch over the next decade is just how much the gay population may decline. After all, if society soon legalizes all that is wicked, rebellious or taboo just how interesting will being gay continue to be? Gay and married may become the new boring. * * * 2 funny videos from Jon."

Dennys: News Politics Comedy Science Arts & Food: Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 12 June 2011

Dennys: News Politics Comedy Science Arts & Food: Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 12 June 2011: "From Denny: Check out what has been happening in the world of news, comedy, food, poetry, photography, art, music and more. In the past month a whirlwind of news occurred. World terrorist Osama bin Laden was hunted down and killed in a resort town in Pakistan where he had been hiding for the past six years. Supposedly, the Pakistanis were unaware of his presence there. Yeah? And I've got some swamp land in Louisiana to sell you too.

President Obama got a nice bump in approval ratings for about a week and then that fizzled as he resumed his usual do-nothing stance on the economy. Obama also continued with poisonous politics aimed at his own Democrats, throwing them all under the bus in favor of Big Business."

The Social Poets: Comics Lampoon Hapless Anthony Weiner, Weird Headlines, Photos

The Social Poets: Comics Lampoon Hapless Anthony Weiner, Weird Headlines, Photos: "From Denny: This poor schmuck is beginning to look sympathetic. It's like everyone is piling on, OK, dumping on him, everything they are angry about in life. Right now, with a down economy and no relief in sight, that's considerable.

It's like there is this ninth grade mentality that has taken over the media, screaming the crudest headlines in the newspapers, TV and online news. Check out the ridiculous photos of the Weinergate scandal.

Meanwhile, the comics are lampooning his stupid Twitter antics. Sadly, comic Jon Stewart is good friends with Weiner and feels betrayed after trying to defend Weiner.

When the Weiner scandal first broke I figured it was just more toxic politics in an election year and I ignored it. Then it drug on and the media carried it on the nightly news incessantly. I caught a CNN interview with Weiner and knew immediately he was lying and that he had, in fact, sent the photos and they were his photos.

He did not admit it in the interview but rather dodged the questions. It was his body language that gave him away. A few days later he finally admitted out loud what was true. Hey, at least he's a bad liar. That's the good news for a politician."

The Social Poets: State of the Economy, Oprah, College Grads, 2012 Election, Cartoons

The Social Poets: State of the Economy, Oprah, College Grads, 2012 Election, Cartoons: "From Denny: Today President Obama's political team demanded $60 million from high roller campaign donors in Chicago, to be delivered before the end of June. Uh, there isn't even anyone to face yet in the Republican camp. A little over reaching, don't you think?

2012 Presidential Campaign

But hey, Mitt Romney jumped up and officially announced he is running for president. In case you have followed so many of his flip-flops of where he stands or doesn't stand - on just about any issue - he is running on the Republican side of the political aisle. Not to be confused with a guy not born in Kenya by the name of Obama. :)"

The Social Poets: Cartoons, Jon Stewart Video: Funny Newt Gingrich 2012 Corner

The Social Poets: Cartoons, Jon Stewart Video: Funny Newt Gingrich 2012 Corner: "From Denny:  The ridiculous figure of 67-year-old Newt Gingrich - running for any political office or standing at the marriage altar - is tailor made for the late night comics and the cartoonists. Newt Gingrich lampoons and mocks himself every time he opens his mouth.

His latest gaffe has been trying to explain what he is doing with a $500,000 dollar credit account with the jeweler Tiffany's. Easy way to funnel bribe money for a presidential candidate? Does make a person wonder. But then he is married for the third time to a woman 23 years his junior - so that explains all the necessary baubles to keep her distracted from whom she is married to every minute of the day.

What is more striking is how the Republican presidential candidates are much too quiet about Newtie's jewelry account. Could it be they are also guilty of the same offense? Does make a person wonder about that too."

The Social Poets: Cartoons: Obamas Israel Peace Speech, Register Your Solution to Middle East Peace

Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu and President Obama

The Social Poets: Cartoons: Obamas Israel Peace Speech, Register Your Solution to Middle East Peace: "From Denny:  Sagging poll numbers for President Obama has sent him off in the direction most presidents run trying to grab some greatness, this time in the form of the famous Middle East Peace talks. This week Obama kept to the usual American rhetoric of 'so, give back the land you took in 1967' strategy that the past three presidents have also tried to sell to no avail.

In case you were not alive in 1967 - or watching the news the past 30 years or maybe living under a rock - Israel did a huge land grab in 1967, taking the Sinai peninsula, the Golan Heights and the West Bank.  To make peace with Egypt they gave back the Sinai."

The Social Poets: Funny 2012 Election Politics, Obama, Bin Laden Cartoons

The Social Poets: Funny 2012 Election Politics, Obama, Bin Laden Cartoons: "From Denny:  When it rains it pours, goes the proverb. It applies to weather these days from the Spring snow melt-offs flooding the American Midwest to the South to the frenetic weirdo politics of 2012 presidential campaigning.

Mississippi River flood

I live in south Louisiana in Baton Rouge, a large city just south of the Morganza Spillway. The Army Corps of Engineers let open a number of gates to flood 18,000 acres of farmland and small towns. They hoped to save two of the largest population centers that are each a large port:  the capital city of Louisiana, Baton Rouge and the largest port, New Orleans."

The Social Poets: Funny Friday Lite: Osama Bin Laden Late Nite Jokes

Lisa Benson

The Social Poets: Funny Friday Lite: Osama Bin Laden Late Nite Jokes: "From Denny:  While the news outlets continue to dissect the details of the Bin Laden compound raid, the comedians have wasted no time in concocting their best jokes.  The jokes center less around Bin Laden and his demise and more around everyone's perception of the decade-long situation. President Obama is seen in a new and more favorable light."

The Social Poets: Mission Accomplished: Dead Terrorist Osama Bin Laden Political Cartoons

Scott Stantis

The Social Poets: Mission Accomplished: Dead Terrorist Osama Bin Laden Political Cartoons: "From Denny: While Pakistan bobs and weaves on who knew what and when about the whereabouts of Bin Laden for five long years, there is no shortage of opinion about his recent demise.

Frankly, no person of sound and reasonable mind believes the folks in Pakistan did not know Bin Laden was living next door. Even the locals who did not know for sure his identity knew something creepy was going on in that tourist town about 100 miles outside of Islamabad.

Of course, when you know a really bad guy with too much money, possesses a desperate need for privacy and keeps too many armed guards, well, it is a definite clue to steer clear of him. Would you try to friend a drug lord or the world's number one terrorist if he moved into your neighborhood?"

The Social Poets: Dead: Osama Bin Laden, Time To Stop Iraq-Afghan Wars

The Social Poets: Dead: Osama Bin Laden, Time To Stop Iraq-Afghan Wars: "From Denny: Justice came swiftly this weekend, dished out from American Special Forces in a deadly fire fight, unleashed by President Obama to kill decades-long terrorist Osama Bin Laden. The mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001 was found living in the lap of luxury in a large mansion in the affluent suburb of Abbottabad, about 30 miles outside of Islamabad, Pakistan. As it was, in the 40 minute fire fight, it was believed he used one of his wives as a human shield as he fired upon the assault team.

Terrorist cult leader turned world pariah

Like the typical cult leader he preached sacrifice and frugal living to his dewy-eyed followers yet enjoyed a lavish life style for himself, his family and closest followers."

Dennys Global Politics: Libya: Specific Targeting: Predator Drones, Gazillion Political Cartoons

Dennys Global Politics: Libya: Specific Targeting: Predator Drones, Gazillion Political Cartoons: "From Denny: America is off their war holiday and back in the driver's seat with NATO in Libya. Read that as the other guys so screwed up they demanded America go back to spending all the money and taking all the heat when the bombs land on unintended targets. They never did get their targeting as accurate as America does.

The latest? Well, at least we are using less expensive weaponry. This time we are back to using the drones with Hellfire missiles like we used in Pakistan. Of course, Pakistan is tired of us and ordered out our CIA intelligence gathering crowd. They aren't too happy with our drones killing off well-paying Taliban who fund the corrupt members of the Pakistani military and political circle.

So, what is a self-respecting American military to do? Well, just slide those useful drones right on over to Libya, of course: brilliant! We can boast about how we save money for the budget deal of a life time. Then we can brag how we don't kill quite as many innocents when we bomb Gadafi's troops."

The Social Poets: Funny 1917 CIA Spy Technology Docs Released: Invisible Writing

The Social Poets: Funny 1917 CIA Spy Technology Docs Released: Invisible Writing: "From Denny:  Anyone who regularly reads this blog knows I grew up in the CIA. Yes, it was one weird childhood living with such paranoid uptight and often humorless people. Whenever the CIA releases ancient documents molding down in their deep dark spy basement it always gives me a grin.

When I was a kid we spent a lot of time figuring out codes since Dad had been a code breaker in WWII - among other things. One of our other childhood past times was to figure out intriguing ways to pass messages and, yes, write in invisible ink. Even Dad joined in the fun. My mother just shook her head and thought we were all a bunch of looney tunes. Knowing Dad he was probably using his baby geniuses to do his research on the cheap. Who said you can't take your work home with you?

Anyway, it is with great pleasure I present to you Rachel Maddow's cheeky report about Dear Ol' Dad's creepy CIA. This week, The New CIA under Director Leon Panetta, and a lot less creepy, odious and just plain obnoxious, released some 1917 technology for public viewing, er, laughter."

The Social Poets: New Terrorism Alert System: Gone Is Bush Era Funny

The Social Poets: New Terrorism Alert System: Gone Is Bush Era Funny: "From Denny: What? My Democrats have gone and done something that makes sense? Whatever will we do without the crazy antics of the Republicans running the federal government? There goes the good entertainment value for your vote.

My own terror alert for Homeland Security when new poems are published

Gone is the stupid color coded terror chart of the Bush years we all loved to lampoon regularly. Today, Homeland Security revealed the obvious: two levels of alert, 'elevated threat' and 'imminent threat.'

Read elevated threat as 'Take a look around and be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to the news while you are at it.' Read imminent threat as 'You are basically screwed if you didn't pay attention to the first warning and check your phone apps for updates.'"

The Social Poets: Funny Tax Season: Cartoons and Late Nite Jokes: "General Electric did not pay any taxes at all last year. Of course that’s because G.E. reported its sale of NBC as a charitable donation. – Conan O'Brien

President Obama wants to raise taxes on the country's richest people. And you thought Donald Trump hated him before. – Jay Leno

Obama called on Americans to have more grandchildren. Probably so there's more of them to pay off our debt. – Jay Leno

In the wake of record losses, the U.S. Postal Service announced it is cutting 7,500 jobs. But a spokesman for the post office said those positions could be restored if this whole email thing turns out to be nothing but a fad. – Jay Leno"
