From Denny: Two more years of winners from the Smashing Magazine wallpaper contest. This contest is a great way for artists, photographers and graphic designers to get some buzz - and maybe additional business!
Nothing like free advertising, so get those creative thoughts flowing and start designing. The magazine holds a contest for every month of the year so you can enter any time. And, no, I'm not associated in any way or paid by the magazine. I just like the site, especially since it helps to promote obscure yet very talented people...
Check out this modern confetti as art for your bedroom!
Visit Denny Lyon Gifts @ CafePress - see what's newWhenever I run across talented people I try to promote them as well. It does help if said artists, photographer or graphic designer has an image available either through an embed code off of a place like flickr or releases the image to be promoted as in the case of Smashing Magazine's wallpaper contest. It's fine with me if it has their name on it - in fact, I'd prefer it. Smashing Mag allows the artists to sign their pieces in addition to carrying the magazine's logo.
So, if you are an artist of any stripe think about how to release one of your images for promotion. It will get you a lot more business with more people aware of your work. Sometimes, an artist can be too self-protective and the result is a very small, often only a local, circle of people who know about your work.
Go through your work - or design an image or photograph just for promotional purposes. Enjoy these interesting images on your desktop or phone as they come in many sizes!
